SIGNAGE and SELF-SERVICE
Signage and Branding
EPL has standardized their exterior signage across all branches. Whether the branch is in a recreation center or mall, or is a stand-alone building, it is easily identified as belonging to EPL.

With EPL's commitment to community libraries, each branch is situated in a place to be easily accessible to various community members therefore many branches have different looks from the outside. Branches inside malls and community centers must have an easily identifiable logo or sign to alert potential patrons that there is a branch of EPL inside. As shown in the photos below (Thomas, 2016), no matter what the exterior of the branch looks like, the EPL logo and branding colors identify the location as a part of EPL.
The color palette from the logo, follows through the branches. From book carts, to library cards, to specific sections of each branch (Thomas, 2016), patrons can identify EPL as a brand through colors.
Self-Service (Automation)
Allowing patrons themselves to complete uncomplicated and repetative transactions, such as book check-out and return, creates more time for library staff to work on non-routine and creative tasks.
For patron convenience, this book vending machine (Random House, n.d.) can be used to check out and return items and is located at a commuter station.
Self Check out and Return stations at EPL's Jasper Place Branch (BCI, n. d.) are conveniently located and easily identified to encourage patron use.
